Roma Bush Gardens ‘Walk on the Wildside’

Venue: Roma Bush Gardens, Railway Dam, Corner Duke and Mayne Street, Roma

Come on down to the popular Walk on the Wildside & Pancake Brekky this Good Friday!

Be guided by BOOBOOK expert ecological guides on one of the nature walks and tuck into some fresh cooked pancakes by Roma Bush Gardens Volunteers at 8am.

The picturesque Railway Dam is a must for the enthusiast of the Australian Bush.

Moorelands Bush Nursery

Venue: Moorelands Bush Nursery, Dargal Road, Roma.

How to get there:
Drive west along Miscamble St to Orallo Rd and then onto Dargal Road, following the signage.

Time: Open 8:00am to 4:00pm

Cost: Free.  Refreshments and nursery items available for purchase.

Take the trip to Moorelands Bush Nursery over the Easter long weekend and relax in the beautiful country setting! The Feed Shed will be operating ONLY on Friday and Monday with burgers all day and morning and afternoon tea available. Please feel welcome to bring a picnic and relax at Moorelands on Saturday or Sunday.

Big Rig Oil Patch Tours

Venue: The Big Rig, 2 Riggers Road, Roma

Time: Attraction open between 8:30am to 3:30pm

Cost: Adults $10, Concession $8, Children (12 yrs & under) $7, Family (2 x Adults & 2 x Children) $20.  EFTPOS available.  

Discover the rigs, machinery and the true grit pioneers that shaped the remarkable history of Australia’s oil and gas industry. The Big Rig’s Oil Patch attraction is an enjoyable, relaxed way to learn about Roma’s oil and gas history.  The Oil Patch is an outside display of oil and gas exploration and product equipment, explained by suitable signs and audio panels. These facilities allow the oil patch to be a self-guided experience.

Roma Scenic Flights

Venue: Roma Airport, Hangar Drive, Roma

Joy Flights will be offered around Roma by MI Helicopters. This will be a great opportunity to check out Roma by air and appreciate the wonderful agricultural space bordered on the north by the Carnarvon Ranges

Easter in the Country Art Show

Venue: Walk of Art – Hawthorne Street,  Roma (adjacent to the Library)

Time: Open between 9:00am to 4:00pm

Cost: Gold Coin Donation (Thursday to Monday)

Enjoy a browse around the gallery and the wonderful artwork of the 2020 Art Exhibition.

Up the Creek Garage Museum

Venue: 14 George Street, Roma (just behind Shady’s Lagoon / 15 minute walk along the Adungadoo Pathway from The Big Rig / 10 minutes from the Post Office.)

Cost: $15 Single, $25 Double/family for a day pass

Time: Thursday, Good Friday & Easter Monday: Open from 9am – 5pm
Saturday: Open from 11am – 8pm with a free sausage sizzle at 6:00pm

From Cars in the Garden (commemorating the Aussie Car Industry) to viewing the Car and Truck Restoration Program incorporating over 500 pictures of Road Trips in the USA with an Aussie Overtone.  A fabulous collage of photos which tell a million stories and a visit not to be missed when you are in town for Roma’s Easter In The Country.  This is a museum full of memories.

You can even get your photo taken with the long horns – Jack or Tex.

Open Country Garden

Venue: The home of Peter and Helen Wells, Roslyn Drive, Roma

How to get there:
Turn left from Warrego hwy opposite Roma Saleyards.  Continue straight onto Roslyn Drive and 4th driveway on Right (white arch over driveway).

Time: Good Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm
Easter Saturday 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Easter Sunday 10:00am – 4:00pm
Easter Monday 10:00am -2:00pm

Cost: Gold coin donation

A country garden with loads of charm – this little gem will keep you wandering and enjoying the intriguing old buildings inspired from Australian times of old and fresh flowers throughout. Follow all the paths till you find your own little secret garden, have a sit and enjoy all that this special place has to offer.

Canteen available with tea, coffee, cold drinks and a selection of home cooked cakes and slices.  There will also be a raffle running over the weekend. All funds raised from the weekend will be donated to the Cancer Council Queensland Roma Branch.

Deadly Way Cultural Show

Venue: Yarning Circle, Bungil Street, Roma

Time: Good Friday – 10:00am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm & 4:00pm sessions
Easter Monday – 8:30am & 10:30am sessions

Be welcomed to the traditional lands of the Mandandanji people with a smoking ceremony along with traditional dance and paint. Hear the history of the area while taking a short walk to discover the use of bush foods and plants, as well as an artefact/tools display and demonstration.

Afterwards, check out various products for sale including artwork, didgeridoos, clapsticks, boomerangs, books and more!

Maranoa Performance Poetry & Song

Venue: RSL Hall Quintin Street, Roma

Time: 10:00am to 6:00pm

Cost: Admission $10

Fancy yourself as a Poet, Performer or Songwriter?  Walk up’s welcome to make the local competition lots of fun. The day’s program includes the competition and performances from a range of guest artists. If you love Australia then this is for you.

Roma Patchwork and Crafters Inc present the In Stitches Quilt and Craft Show.  Features include Single Colour Challenge, Quality Handcrafted Stall, the Queensland Quilters Travelling Exhibit, Crafters Destash Stall and Quilt Raffle.

Tour of Roma’s Historical Butter Factory

Venue: Station Street, Roma

Time: Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 10:30am to 2:00pm. 
Monday: 7:00am to 10:00am for a Sausage Sizzle to say ‘until we meet again – safe travels.’

Roma’s Historical Precincts Inc is a local committee dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Roma Butter Factory.  Self-guided tours of the Butter Factory will be welcomed for a gold coin donation.

Roma History Lodge

Roma History Lodge – the written history of Roma and surrounds. 

Enjoy the display of ‘Local Weddings’ and is also open for anyone wanting to check out their family history in the area.  Many books on local history also for sale.

MPC Kinetic – Monster Easter Egg Hunt

Venue: Big Rig Parklands, Riggers Rd, Roma

Cost: Free

Time: From 2:45pm to 5:30pm

Face painting, Ponies and Animals 2U on site.

2:45pm – Join in the fun of the games – egg and spoon races, sack races and three legged races. These will be in ages groups and on the terrace adjacent to the Miniature Train at the Big Rig Parklands.

3:20pm – CHILDREN’S ENTERTAINMENT – ‘The Pirates are coming to Easter…check them out’.

4:30 pm – The Easter Bunny arrives to greet the children and there will be loads of photo opportunities.

5:00pm – Easter Egg Hunt. This will run in age groups again and under the supervision of parent and officials. Children will only get one or two small Easter eggs and sharing is strongly encouraged to ensure everyone gets to participate.

Refreshments available and enjoy your time at Roma’s Big Rig Parklands.

If you want a seat you need to bring a chair or a blanket.

The Ultimate Cooking Demo and Sundowners at the Home of Maranoa Beef

Venue: Pine Tree, 278 Bowens Lane, Roma (12km East of Roma – an easy 15 minute drive) Map will be provided with your ticket.

Time: 3:00pm to 7:00pm

Cost: Bookings required. Tickets are $50 per person – includes a complimentary drink on arrival and a meal of barbecued, grilled and smoked meat with sides.

We’re opening up the farm gates and partnering with Roma Explorers Inn to deliver you the Ultimate Cooking and Eating Experience! Renowned local Head Chef from Explorers Inn, Tim Schafer, will show us how to create mouth-watering Maranoa Beef, Maranoa Lamb and chicken dishes using the popular techniques of barbecuing, grilling and meat smoking. It will be an experience for all the senses as we finish with Sundowners in the paddock.

A maximum of 50 tickets will be available for the event.

Sundowner Non-alcoholic Drinks and nibbles will be available for purchase. (Alternatively, feel free to BYO Sundowner drinks of your choice).

Xtreme Bulls Australia

Venue: Bassett Park – Roma Showgrounds Northern Road, Roma.

The Original Xtreme Sport is back this year with Cement Australia presenting Xtreme Bulls Roma!!

Xtreme Bulls are pleased to be heading back to Roma’s Easter in the Country weekend for another stop of the Xtreme Bulls Australia Tour.

This will be Roma’s fourth Xtreme Bulls event and one not to miss out on. Featuring Australia’s elite Bull Riders taking on the Gill Bros Rodeo Company’s Xtreme Bulls.  Be sure to catch the action at this event and the big screen replays.

The event is a classic, so sit back and relax at the alcohol free family night.

Experience the history of the search and discovery of oil and gas in Roma. Settle back and relax under the outback skies as you are taken on a fascinating journey to meet the locals and learn of the entertaining trials and triumphs of early industry men and women in Roma. The Big Rig Night Show runs for 35 minutes.

Call into The Big Rig/Roma Visitor Information Centre to purchase your tickets. Visitors are to meet inside The Big Rig for the night show & tickets can be purchased on the night of the show.
