Country Markets

Venue: McDowall Street, Roma

Time: 7.00am to 2:00pm

Cost: Free entry

Showcasing a fantastic array of arts, crafts, wares, food and drinks at the Country Markets in Arthur and Wyndham Streets. Customers are sure to find something to take home. Heaps of market stalls to wander through and of course there will be bargains to be found.

Ponies and Animals 2U

Venue: Arthur Street, McDowall and Wyndham Street – adjacent to the Post Office 

Time: 7:00am to 2:00pm

Cost: Entry to the Animal Nursery $5.00
Feed for Farm Animals $1.00
Pony Rides $7.00
Small Jumping Castle $5.00
$45 combo ticket per child (animal farm, jumping castle and pony rides for the whole Festival (Friday at Big Rig Parklands, Saturday Markets (in Wyndham Street, adjacent to the Post Office) and Sunday Markets (Bassett Park).

Ponies and Animals 2U has all the favourites at the markets including a petting zoo, pony rides and a small jumping castle.

Brekkie with Matt Golinski & Glen Barrate

Venue: In front of the stage in Roma CBD, McDowall Street, Roma

Time:
8:00am

Cost: Free

Bring your own chair to enjoy a demonstration of cooking skills on the barbie with Matt Golinski and Glen Barratt. Fresh from the Outback Tucker Under the Stars and armed with local produce Matt and Glen will give us all the inside information on healthy cooking, made easy.

Moorelands Bush Nursery

Venue: Moorelands Bush Nursery, Dargal Road, Roma.

How to get there:
Drive west along Miscamble St to Orallo Rd and then onto Dargal Road, following the signage.

Time: Open 8:00am to 4:00pm

Cost: Free.  Refreshments and nursery items available for purchase.

Take the trip to Moorelands Bush Nursery over the Easter long weekend and relax in the beautiful country setting! The Feed Shed will be operating ONLY on Friday and Monday with burgers all day and morning and afternoon tea available. Please feel welcome to bring a picnic and relax at Moorelands on Saturday or Sunday.

Big Rig Oil Patch Tours

Venue: The Big Rig, 2 Riggers Road, Roma

Time: Attraction open between 8:30am to 3:30pm

Cost: Adults $10, Concession $8, Children (12 yrs & under) $7, Family (2 x Adults & 2 x Children) $20.  EFTPOS available.  

Discover the rigs, machinery and the true grit pioneers that shaped the remarkable history of Australia’s oil and gas industry. The Big Rig’s Oil Patch attraction is an enjoyable, relaxed way to learn about Roma’s oil and gas history.  The Oil Patch is an outside display of oil and gas exploration and product equipment, explained by suitable signs and audio panels. These facilities allow the oil patch to be a self-guided experience.

Watpac Street Parade

Venue: CBD, McDowall Street, Roma

Time: 9:00am to 10:00am

Cost: Free entry

This annual parade show-case Charities, Businesses, Sporting and Recreational Clubs, Schools in Roma and surrounding Districts. With Floats in different shapes and sizes. This parade is a must see in Roma’s Easter in the Country Festival. Commencing at Spencer Street and moving through Charles and Gregory Streets.

The 2020 street parade is sponsored by WATPAC and its theme is Bush Wildlife.

Easter in the Country Art Show

Venue: Walk of Art – Hawthorne Street,  Roma (adjacent to the Library)

Time: Open between 9:00am to 4:00pm

Cost: Gold Coin Donation (Thursday to Monday)

Enjoy a browse around the gallery and the wonderful artwork of the 2020 Art Exhibition.

In Stitches, Quilt and Craft Show

Venue: Hibernian Hall, Hawthorne Street, Roma

Time: Friday to Sunday: 10:00am to 4:00pm

Cost: $5 entry per adult

Roma Patchwork and Crafters Inc present the In Stitches Quilt and Craft Show.  Features include Single Colour Challenge, Quality Handcrafted Stall, the Queensland Quilters Travelling Exhibit, Crafters Destash Stall and Quilt Raffle.

Devonshire Tea available for purchase.  Supporting Maranoa School Chaplaincy.

St Paul’s Anglican Church Windows

Venue: St Paul’s Anglian Church, Cnr of Bungil and Arthur Streets, Roma

Cost:

Time: 10:00am to 1:30pm

St Paul’s Anglican Church will be open over Easter and visitors are most welcome to view the wonderful stained glass windows and magnificent building.  The vintage and historical cars will be on display adjacent to the Church in Bungil Street, following the street parade.

Morning tea will be available with fresh coffee, homemade cakes and slices will be on sale.

Westside Car Display

Venue: McDowall Street Roma

Time: 5:30pm to 10:00pm

Cost: 

The Westside Car Club Meet was established six years ago in Toowoomba. The Club meets monthly with over three hundred members. There is a mixture of old school cars and modern cars.

All monies raised from fundraising events go to the Homeless War Veterans to purchase swags, meals and clothing.  Roma’s Easter in the Country Committee welcome Westside Car Club to the Festival and thank them sincerely for providing a fabulous and entertaining display of Hot Wheels.

Live Music Saturday

Venue: The Big Stage, CBD, McDowall Street, Roma

Time: 10:00am to 2.00pm

Cost: Free entry

10am – Vinnie Howell and John Reid – Blues Brothers

11am – Be entertained by Country Legends – Keith Jamieson, Alisha Smith, Caitlyn Jamieson, Jeff Brown and Garry Fogarty. Catch your breath and listen to live music in our country pubs.

12:15 – Amanda Faulkner – Singer/Songwriter who travels Queensland performing at festivals and bars.

Tour of Roma’s Historical Butter Factory

Venue: Station Street, Roma

Time: Friday, Saturday and Sunday: 10:30am to 2:00pm. 
Monday: 7:00am to 10:00am for a Sausage Sizzle to say ‘until we meet again – safe travels.’

Cost: Gold Coin Donation will be welcomed

Roma’s Historical Precincts Inc is a local committee dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Roma Butter Factory.  Self-guided tours of the Butter Factory will be welcomed for a gold coin donation.

Up the Creek Garage Museum

Venue: 14 George Street, Roma (just behind Shady’s Lagoon / 15 minute walk along the Adungadoo Pathway from The Big Rig / 10 minutes from the Post Office.)

Cost: $15 Single, $25 Double/family for a day pass

Time: Thursday, Good Friday & Easter Monday: Open from 9am – 5pm
Saturday: Open from 11am – 8pm with a free sausage sizzle at 6:00pm

From Cars in the Garden (commemorating the Aussie Car Industry) to viewing the Car and Truck Restoration Program incorporating over 500 pictures of Road Trips in the USA with an Aussie Overtone.  A fabulous collage of photos which tell a million stories and a visit not to be missed when you are in town for Roma’s Easter In The Country.  This is a museum full of memories.

You can even get your photo taken with the long horns – Jack or Tex.

Open Country Garden

Venue: The home of Peter and Helen Wells, Roslyn Drive, Roma

How to get there:
Turn left from Warrego hwy opposite Roma Saleyards.  Continue straight onto Roslyn Drive and 4th driveway on Right (white arch over driveway).

Time: Good Friday 10:00am – 4:00pm
Easter Saturday 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Easter Sunday 10:00am – 4:00pm
Easter Monday 10:00am -2:00pm

Cost: Gold coin donation

A country garden with loads of charm – this little gem will keep you wandering and enjoying the intriguing old buildings inspired from Australian times of old and fresh flowers throughout. Follow all the paths till you find your own little secret garden, have a sit and enjoy all that this special place has to offer.

Canteen available with tea, coffee, cold drinks and a selection of home cooked cakes and slices.  There will also be a raffle running over the weekend. All funds raised from the weekend will be donated to the Cancer Council Queensland Roma Branch.

Ironbark Raceway Drag Racing

Venue: Ironbark Raceway – Kimblers Road (off Warrego Highway), Roma

Time: Gates Open: 12 noon – Racing commences from 3pm

Cost: Adults $10 (15 years and over)
14 years and under FREE entry

Take your seats for the rubber hitting the road with engines roaring for action a plenty.

Venue: Showgrounds – Bassett Park, Northern Road Roma

Time: 1:00pm to 5:00pm

Cost: 

Meet friends to enjoy an afternoon of racing with a five race program with full TAB facilities, on course bookmakers and children’s entertainment available.

While enjoying a drink after the races have some fun picking the winner of the Yabby Races around the bar – good old country fun.  Heaps of fun in a jam packed afternoon of activities at Bassett Park.

Roma History Lodge – the written history of Roma and surrounds. 

Enjoy the display of ‘Local Weddings’ and is also open for anyone wanting to check out their family history in the area.  Many books on local history also for sale.

Roma International Motor Speedway

Venue: Roma International Speedway, Two Mile Road, Roma.  
(2klms east of Roma on the Warrego Highway – follow the signs).

Time: Gates open at 4:30pm.  Racing starts 6:00pm

$10 – 13 – 18yrs
Free – Children Under 12

$10 – Pit Admission without Insurance for over 15yrs

Get your backside trackside for a great night of racing for Easter in the Country! The Roma International Motor Speedway has an action packed night planned with the first race roaring off at 6pm. The program will consist the following classes:

Experience the history of the search and discovery of oil and gas in Roma. Settle back and relax under the outback skies as you are taken on a fascinating journey to meet the locals and learn of the entertaining trials and triumphs of early industry men and women in Roma. The Big Rig Night Show runs for 35 minutes.

Call into The Big Rig/Roma Visitor Information Centre to purchase your tickets. Visitors are to meet inside The Big Rig for the night show & tickets can be purchased on the night of the show.
